A Synagogue and Community Center for the Eastern Shore
WELCOME TO
TEMPLE BNAI ISRAEL
THE SATELL CENTER FOR JEWISH LEARNING ON THE EASTERN SHORE
Shalom! We are excited to welcome you to our warm and inclusive congregation. Founded in 1951, Temple B'nai Israel has worked to unite and meet the needs of the Jewish community on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Our congregation embraces traditional and non traditional families, singles, and interfaith families.
Temple B'nai Israel is also proud to be a community center for the region's interfaith and secular communities. Most of our events are open to the public, and our doors are always open to those who are interested in learning more about the Jewish faith. Join us as we engage in prayer, learning, community events, and enriching special programming.

Rabbi Fred Sherlinder Dobb
Interim Rabbi through June 2025
With charisma, musicality, and spirtuality, Rabbi Fred has been a wonderful addition to our congregation. Fred is father of two, husband, and an avid environmentalist. He has engaged the congragation in wonderful learning opportunities on Eco-Judaism, sharing his wealth of knowledge on the intersection between religion and environmentalism. He is devoted to tikkun olam, his community, shabbatot and festivals.
Past President of the Washington Board of Rabbis and Chair of Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA), he’s now chair of COEJL, on the boards of NRPE and National IPL. We are so lucky to have him with us as we search for our next full time clergy.
